THINK IT OVER
A crafty old warrior, Think It Over knows how to teach the young ones a thing of two
Think It Over is a thoroughbred horse born in Australia in 2015. Think It Over is by So You Think (NZ) out of the Zabeel mare Personal Service (AUS), and is trained by Kerry Parker at their Kembla Grange base. A homebred for Richard Johnston’s Bylong Park, Think It Over started his career with John Sargent, but has blossomed with maturity and created a formidable elite race record, growing better with age like a fine wine.
Think It Over is the best of four winners from five to race from well bred unraced Zabeel mare Personal Service, who died 2022. She was a half-sister to Group I winners Universal Prince and Universal Queen as well as the dam of Group I ATC Coolmore Classic winner Krone. Think It Over is one of 11 Group one winners for So You Think so far.
Think It Over has handed Kembla trainer Kerry Parker his second Group 1 victory after taking out the 2021 George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill. The five-year-old was ridden to victory by Glen Boss, holding off Dreamforce and a fast finishing Avilius to get up. He produced one of the most memorable victories in recent times when sailing down the outside rail at Royal Randwick to take out the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in 2022. Previously, Think It Over destroyed a classy field in the Gr.2 The Agency Apollo Stakes at Randwick, accounting for Colette with Special Reward third. After winning the 2022 edition of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Think It Over suffered a career-threatening tendon injury and was out of action for 16 months. In a fantastic training effort, the Parker stable was able to get him back in the spring to take out the $1 million 7 Stakes. Having resumed with a midfield effort in the Group one Winx Stakes (1400m) in August, Think It Over put the writing on the wall in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) the run prior when beaten a half-length. He was then spelled again after an unplaced finish in the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes in October.
The son of So You Think has been a marvel for the Parker barn, winning 13 races in total and amassing over $7.8 million in earnings at the highest level. Nash Rawiller and Think It Over combined to wins the Royal Randwick Group 1 weight-for-age races in March 2024. The champion jockey's decision to cut the corner on the home turn combined with Think It Over's fierce determination led to a tough but deserved win over hot favourite Fangirl in the Gr.1 $1m Verry Elleegant Stakes (1600m). Rawiller's ride rivalled his famous effort two years ago when he took a totally different route and brought Think it Over down the outside fence to upset Zaaki in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Think It Over scored his third career Group one win and improved his overall record to 14 wins (and 13 placings) from 41 starts. He took his earnings to more than $8.45 million to break into the all-time top 20 prizemoney winners. The incredible story of this brilliant eight-year-old warhorse continues to be written.
