THINK ABOUT IT

Bred by a champion to be a champion, a new star rose to the top of the highest mountain

Think About It could be the best horse in Australia, but he has some way to go to prove his qualifications. The exciting So You Think gelding Think About It made a winning debut in a Kembla maiden in July 2022 and has been on a steady upward spiral ever since, with victory in the $200,000 Gr.3 ATC Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Randwick, stamping himself as a Group one star of the future. Within the shortest period of time he reached that peak faster then Sir Edmund Hillary. A $70,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Proven Thoroughbreds / Joe Pride Racing from the Newgate Farm draft, Think About it was bred by Lightning Thoroughbreds and foaled and raised at Newgate. His grand-dam is by Zabeel and the family features two Group I winners in Hong Kong in The Duke and Sky Field, so there is plenty of quality on the page, and So You Think has produced Group I winners from daughters of both Flying Spur and Zabeel, with Think About It's mother being Tiare.

Stakes performances include: 1st 2023 The Group one Stradbroke Hcp; 2023 Kingsford Smith Cup (Gr.1); 2023 Precise Air Premiere Stakes (Gr.2); 2023 Liverpool City Cup (Gr.3); 2023 De Bortoli Takeover Target (LR); 2nd 2024 James Squire Canterbury Stakes.

The four-year-old son of So You Think brought up his ninth win from 10 starts when he dominated his rivals in the $3 million Stradbroke Handicap in Brisbane. Jockey Sam Clipperton found a lovely spot and produced early in the straight before powering away for a 1-1/2-length win over gallant local favourite Rothfire, with promising three-year-old Hawaii Five Oh a neck away third. It was his second straight Group 1 win following victory in the Kingsford Smith Cup.

Think About It then took out richest race in Australia, The Everest at Royal Randwick, hauling in $7 million of the $20 million prizemoney pool. The horse was the favourite to win the world's richest turf race and did so in a tight battle, conquering the prestigious 1200-metre Sydney event. Sam had his apprenticeship at Randwick with the legendary trainer, Ron Quinton and claimed to know every blade of grass of the joint. On a memorable day for Joe Pride, he prepared the first and third placegetters in The Everest, with Private Eye finishing a neck behind the 2nd placed, I Wish I Win. By winning Australia’s riches turf race, Think About It extended his current winning streak to nine races, scorching over the 1200m in 1:07.64 sec and took his overall record to 11 victories from 12 career starts.
